About

The Lattice Institute exists to help people navigate complexity. Many situations become difficult not because solutions are unavailable, but because information, priorities, responsibilities, and possibilities become tangled together. When this happens, it can be difficult to see what matters most or what direction to take next. The Institute provides a structured space where individuals, leaders, and organisations can step back, make sense of complex situations, and move forward with greater confidence.Orientation Sessions are designed to help people regain their bearings when facing uncertainty, change, competing priorities, or important decisions. The Institute was founded by Rana Tahau and is informed by her ongoing work in systems thinking, complexity, and the development of the Lattice Framework.

Why The Lattice Institute?

The name reflects a simple idea: complex situations are often made up of many interconnected parts. When we can see the relationships between those parts more clearly, it becomes easier to understand what is happening, identify what matters most, and determine practical next steps. The goal is not to provide answers. The goal is to create clarity, perspective, and orientation so people can make informed decisions for themselves.

About Rana

My background spans governance, operational leadership, training, public service, and community development.Throughout my career I have worked with individuals, teams, boards, and organisations facing complex challenges, competing priorities, and difficult decisions.Alongside this practical experience, I became increasingly interested in a simple question:Why do some situations become so difficult to understand and navigate? That question led me into the study of systems thinking, complexity, decision-making, and the patterns that shape organisations, communities, and relationships. The result is the ongoing development of the Lattice Framework—a systems-science project that explores how structure, relationships, and interaction influence complex systems. While Orientation Sessions are practical and grounded, they are informed by this broader perspective, helping people see beyond immediate problems and better understand the patterns influencing their situation.
